Jumping from a communications career that has brought her from Bertel Haarder’s campaign trail to DR, Anne Marie Berså just launched herself as a one-woman-enterprise in The Workshop. She’s good at helping companies with how they talk to customers and the rest of the world. But aside from her strategic understanding she writes copy all the way down to the nitty-gritty details.
“I made my independent business, because I want to do something I am proud of, and collaborate with people that deserve success. It has to feel meaningful, and I would never think: How do I create a big amount of billable hours without burning out? My work is not about that. Communication is only interesting, if you can use it as a catalyst for great potential. There is a lot of that among startups.”
One thing that interests her is partnerships as a PR engine for startups.
“If you team up with a non-profit or a public agency that shares your values, you got yourself a good external narrative,” she says.
The perfect work day for her on Holmen? A variety of deep crunching and free-flowing meetings.
“I like to be able to really go into a writing task, and then develop a concept with others later during the day. I’m a huge fan of doing walking meetings outside. People think beyond their professional field and contribute in a broader sense, when they are moving.”
Making the shift from large organisations to going solo, allows her to escape the 9 to 5 culture once and for all: “I am at my desk, when I feel that I can deliver my best. That can be on a Wednesday night or on a Sunday. But if my brain is done, I will not hesitate to take a short day and walk out in the sun.”
